💙 FITNESS IS BUILT ONE BLOCK AT A TIME!

When I first meet with a client, one of the things I try to explain is that fitness has building blocks. There is a reason we don’t start at the top!

The NASM OPT Model illustrates five phases of training, beginning with stabilization endurance and progressing toward power.

But here’s what I want everyone to understand: Starting at Phase 1 doesn’t mean you’re less capable than someone else. It means we’re building a foundation for YOU.

Everyone walks through my door with a different history, different abilities, different injuries, and different goals. My job is to figure out where you are today and help you progress safely.

I’ll be completely transparent. My passion is working with older adults. ❤️

I love teaching proper posture, balance, strength, how to set up exercise machines, and how to use resistance bands and body weight effectively.

If someone comes to me wanting to improve their competitive running, I may refer them to a coworker who specializes in that area. If someone is focused on bodybuilding, I know another trainer whose expertise better matches those goals.

It’s not about my ego. It’s about what’s best for the client. We all have our strengths and specialties.

I’ve had gentlemen tell me how much they could bench press back in high school. And I think that’s fantastic!

I ran hurdles, played softball and soccer, and competed in track when I was younger.

But guess what? I’m 56 now. My body has changed. I’ve had injuries, and I live with degenerative disc disease. My body doesn’t always cooperate the way it did when I was 18.

Does that mean I crawl into a hole and give up?

Absolutely not!

It means I adapt. I listen to my body. I find exercises that work for me today. I recognize when I need to rebuild my foundation instead of trying to prove what I could do decades ago.

And you know what? I may never reach the Power Phase, and I’m perfectly okay with that! Not everyone needs to.

Sometimes our greatest accomplishment isn’t how much weight we lift or how fast we run. It’s being able to get out of a chair comfortably, climb stairs, maintain our balance, stay independent, and continue doing the things we love.

Exercise should enhance your life, not punish your body.

There is no shame in starting over, slowing down, or modifying an exercise.

💙 Listen to your body.

💙 Adapt when necessary.

💙 Protect what you have.

💙 Celebrate your progress.

I truly love helping people discover their own fitness path. Teaching and training fuel me, and seeing my clients gain confidence genuinely makes me happy.

And some exciting news! 🎉 I’ve recently revamped my Firestone Fitness website to make scheduling easier! New and existing clients can now book, reschedule, and manage their training appointments online.

Your fitness journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Let’s find what works for YOU!

Keep in the Zone with Firestone! 💙
